I had tons of fun and have been snapping away trying to do my best impression of yanling. Alas, I have only accumulated 592MB of pictures. I have failed you Shi Fu! Anyways...my parents thought that the ceremony was nice and formal unlike theirs when they graduated. They were shivering through all the pictures we took but it really wasn't that cold. It was a really nice day too! It even started snowing lightly as we walked out of Elliot. Very picturesque...

We had brekkie at Route 66 (What else?!) And I made sure I showed my parents around ME, my domain (the labs) and all my projects just to gloat :) Then we went to have an awesome graduation lunch of Wendy's hahhaa.. My dad loves chili so I knew he wanted to have it. I know why I love junk food so much now...my parents love it equally! We said bye to 3868 Ledyard and moved on to Ohio to visit pple who took care of my dad during his time at Ohio Uni.

We dropped my sis off at Chicago the night before so she could take a flight back to NY to finish her exchange at Mt Sinai. The next day we drove to Ohio and had a few days of visiting old folks who were really nice. On the way we stopped by a hardees (reaaaally good burgers) and there were a bunch of old pple playing bingo in the restaurant! It was hilarious! They were so excited too! We went visiting around the school where my dad was amazed at the changes they had made and that night to satisfy my mom we went to walmart to do some midnight shopping :)

Mr & Mrs. Parmer and Ms. Deppen took care of my dad while he was at OU so he's made it a point to always go visit them when he's around the Midwest. Me and Rita were bored at lunch with Ms. Deppen so we kept fooling around for the camera. She ate incredibly slow but it was cool cos it was like her first meal outta the nursing home for a while now. We drove 8 hrs back to Chicago to take a flight off to Salt Lake City. But of course on the way we decided to drop by Chinatown for some good (at least I thought it was good) Chinese food...its all relative. They get good food all day and I get Chauncey village.. go figure.

We stayed in a hotel close to the Utah university and the view from the room was spectacular. My cousins house was close by and it was a cute blue house with chickens that laid eggs everyday. It too had a nice ass view of the city. I could consider living in Utah just because of the view. We went skiing a total of 3 days I believe...all through Christmas basically. Alta, being a skiers only resort, forced me to learn to ski. But I think I picked it up pretty quick. By the end of the day we were taking runs up the blues.

On the first day my dad went to visit customers so he didn't come up the mountain with us. With him proclaiming that he skied 30 years ago, we brought him for lessons then brought up him to the blues just to see how he would do :) MAN! Big mistake boy... he was so tired from coming down the mountain... he had 2 runs and that was it. He had us all worried with the kind of spills he was taking. My cousin was like ready to get a heart attack. My two nieces were laughing at me all the way down the mountain when I went up with them too!I fell like 3 times and they would ski right past and giggle... embarrassing is not the word. Christmas dinner was terrifically cooked and everyone had their fill including the babies. The girls had gotten fairy costumes for gifts and duly changed into them and had a fairy dance.

We returned to new york where my mom and younger sis left to go home the next day. My dad, elder sis and I stayed in new york over the new year. I gave little alex aviators for Christmas and he looks so pimp now. We also visited NYU which is where my parents met and had a ball at Chinatown where we make our pilgrimage to my dad's favourite eating spot from when he used to be a student. The next day after my sis and mom left, we decided to go down to Baltimore and DC to pay my other cousin a visit. We tried to stop at an amish town in Lancaster but traffic was horrible. Along the way the map showed a town whose name I will not wish on anyone. In DC we went to the Arlington cemetery and visited the JFKs because we had already done the museum thing on a previous trip.

We also toured John Hopkins where my cousin works and it was pretty nice I must say. They love to gloat bout being #1 though. On our return to new york on NYE, we were promptly greeted with a HEAVY snow storm that lasted bout an hour or so. We took shelter at the Time Warner Center and low and behold who do we see? Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn who apparently don't live very far from there. They rushed off before I could grab my camera so you guys are just goin to have to believe me. New years went ok and the next day bright and early we set off for Boston where my sister is doing another attachment at Beth Israel. While it was still light, we decided to take a quick tour of Harvard which is still one of the best campuses I've seen (Penn is up there too). The next day we did a bit more sightseeing and went to the Aquarium and to the Frog pond and prudential center and everything. Since then its just been shopping shopping shopping for me while its been workin workin workin for my sis. I also bought a pair of shoes and got my ass out to go for runs but its been painfully tiring...hope I pass my napfa!

Rhinoboyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06521427324435166641noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17229961.post-1135827040920003092005-12-28T22:09:00.000-05:002005-12-29T01:15:18.243-05:00The last/best daysI know this is obscenely late and everything but....tough. These are photos from when we went sledding down slayter hill over dead week (week before finals week). This is one of the few 'hills' we have in West Lafayette. It's also the location of an outdoor theatre where rock bands come and play once in a while. The goal of every sledder is to sled all the way down to the road upon arrival, to get the hell off of it before you get knocked down. After trying all night, most of us finally made it!You should have seen me and derrick stumbling like fools trying to get off the road before an oncoming car slammed right into us. It would have been funny if i wasnt scared shitless bout being run over. So the only two things I didn't do in my time at Purdue was to go to Harrys and to go to the annual go kart grand prix. Admidst the fun stuff occurred a really unecessary and stupid incident. While xinhui was making one of her many runs down the hill, a dog brought by other people decided to chase her down the hill and hang on to her leg with its teeth. It probably thought that it was a game...but xinhui thought otherwise. The result was a trip to the ER *cue music* to get her a jab. The owner of the dog wasn't even responsible enough to come apologize but just ran off with his gf and doggie. At least we had SOME fun waiting in the waiting room while they took the longest time to give xin hui one jab in the arm. We were all in denial with the pending finals and so sledding was a real nice break from cramming and the stinky ass library. Good times good times!

Slayter Hill/ Piling on the Layers/ Before the dog bite/ Dog bitten CHINKen/ Chunk o Chinken/ Los lonely boys/ Peanuts/ Spring Break?/ Blind Mr Planters

I decided to post pictures on stuff we did on finals week. As we all know, a ton of snow was dropped over the midwest in one night. That same night when we came out of the library, we were trying to find andrew's lost keys and searched in the trunk of derrick's car. For some weird reason we found a frozen tomato. We went back to andrew and derrick's place and found a ton of snow on top of marcus's car. So we decided to make good use of the tomato and play with marcus a little :) That tomato dropped so far into the snow it was hilarious, and i was just rolling on the ground laughing when marcus was brushing off the snow and found it there. The look on his face was priceless! I was a little down and out because by the time my exam started on thursday, everyone else had already effectively ended theirs and so it was pretty demoralizing. Specially when certain people kept asking me to go to the bars! *cough zhuang cough* Anyways we still had fun and we played right to the end. It was the best semester in purdue by far and i will treasure the memories forever! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everybody!

One frozen tomato/ One drop/ One deeeep hole/ One angry neighbour/ One pissed off half-shaven cat/ One nice ice work/ One sucky sucky 5 dollar/ One missionary/ One festive union

Rhinoboyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06521427324435166641noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17229961.post-1135746152299743992005-12-28T00:00:00.000-05:002005-12-28T16:12:49.543-05:00Bangkok!Touched down in Singapore on the 21st morning and immediately flew to Bangkok on the 22nd morning.... thanks to some careful planning by Grizly and Shao, but it was worth it!
